Toss Pakistan chose to bowl vs England

Pakistan have won a rain-delayed toss and chosen to bowl first in the second Test against England at Lord’s.

Steady morning rain pushed back the start of proceedings by an hour-and-a-half with play due to begin 80 minutes late, at 12.20pm local time.

England, who lead the three-match series 1-0, are unchanged from the side which thumped Pakistan by innings an 103 runs inside three days at Headingley. But it is perceptions they will be looking to change after the off-field drama which engulfed them yet again following Brydon Carse’s run-in with police while celebrating a county win with some Durham team-mates.
Pakistan welcome back Babar Azam, their captain who missed the opening game with a hand injury he aggravated while playing a warm-up fixture. Salman Agha, who stood in as skipper in Leeds, makes way in the line-up as Pakistan’s only change.

Lord’s received a demerit point after the pitch which staged the first Test between England and New Zealand earlier this summer was rated “unsatisfactory” by the ICC, but this surface appeared more batter-friendly, according to England captain Joe Root, despite the overhead conditions favouring the bowlers.

Pakistan: 1 Imam-ul-Haq, 2 Azan Awais, 3 Shan Masood, 4 Abdullah Shafique, 5 Babar Azam, 6 Saud Shakeel, 7 Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 8 Khurram Shahzad, 9 Ali Usman, 10 Mohammad Abbas, 11 Mohammad Ali

England: 1 Emilio Gay, 2 Ben Duckett, 3 Jordan Cox, 4 Joe Root (capt), 5 Harry Brook, 6 Dan Lawrence, 7 Jamie Smith (wk), 8 Gus Atkinson, 9 Jofra Archer, 10 Ollie Robinson, 11 Josh Tongue
