The Day 4 of the second Test between Sri Lanka and India at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo began with Saransh Jain taking the last two wickets of the hosts as Shubman Gill asked them to follow on after a 203-run lead.
While it seemed that the Indians were on top of the match, the Lankans staged a remarkable comeback and restarted with a confident display of batting. Rain enforced early stumps being taken, but the Dhananjaya de Silva-led side had already accumulated a 16-run lead in the innings. Coming from behind, the hosts looked absolutely unfazed, but India struck a few in the last hour of play to stage resistance.
With the final day of play coming up, it will be quite interesting to see which way the game turns its head to.

Top batting performance of the day: Pasindu Sooriyabandara
Sri Lanka’s Pasindu Sooriyabandara certainly stands out as the top batting performance from the penultimate day of the intriguing Test. Despite a couple of early wickets for the Lankans, Sooriyabandara combined with vice-captain Kamindu Mendis (55) for a 115-run stand. The elegant batter laced his knock with ten fours and a six. However, luck did not last long as he was outfoxed by Manav Suthar, just eight runs short of what could have been his maiden Test hundred.
Top bowling performance of the day: Saransh Jain
Debutant Saransh Jain shone the brightest for the Indian team with the ball on the fourth day. He first finished the proceedings from the first innings to help the visitors wrap Sri Lanka for 290. In the next innings, he bowled 17.4 overs, conceding only 55 runs and accounting for an important breakthrough of Niroshan Dickwella. The Indore-born spinner ended the day with three wickets to his name, which also included his maiden scalp in international cricket.
