5.35pm KL Rahul giving his wicket away with a nothing shot. Yashasvi Jaiswal butting heads with Asitha Fernando in a heated exchange after being knocked over. Sri Lanka spinners sticking to some leg-stump bowling on Day 1 of a Test. Shubman Gill hitting a serene fifty and looking completely untroubled before getting out to a nothing shot. Lahiru Kumara forcing Rishabh Pant to retire hurt with a short ball that hit him around his wrist. Kumara also injuring Jadeja. Jadeja, who batted well like he does before getting bowled while leaving the ball in the final over of the day. The first day of this second Test in Colombo had it all, but the highlight of the day was Devdutt Padikkal, who hit his second century in as many games, making the most of being dropped on 0 and 1. Padikkal, like he did in Galle, has set India up for yet another big first-innings score. India have got to 300, but Sri Lanka will be happy that they did manage to pick up five wickets. Pant is expected to bat tomorrow, with him sitting padded up earlier on, but the hosts will feel they still have a chance of picking up quick wickets and keeping this game within their reach. Join us tomorrow when the game resumes at 10am. Until then, on behalf of Karthik, Thilak and Sudeep, it’s Abhimanyu signing off.
Mustafa Moudi: “Hey Abhi, its my Birthday today. Hoping to get a wish from you as the End have already ended for the day !!” — As one of the most consistent and persistent commenters on here, it would be unfair to not wish you. Have a good one!
Vignesh: “not sure why but I remember Jayant yadav suddenly when Saransh debut today.” — Jayant does have a Test century under his belt, and India will hope Saransh can notch a big score tomorrow, because there are runs yet to be scored on this pitch.
