Australia vs Bangladesh 2nd Test, Highlights: Mitchell Starc produced a match-winning spell as Australia bounced back from their shock defeat in Darwin to crush Bangladesh by an innings and 51 runs in the second Test at Mackay, levelling the two-match series 1-1 inside two days.
The veteran left-arm quick finished with match figures of 10-51, following his sensational 6-12 in Bangladesh’s first innings with another four wickets in the second. It was Starc’s fourth 10-wicket haul in Test cricket and took his career tally to 445 wickets, moving him past South African great Dale Steyn into 10th place on the all-time list.
Bangladesh, bowled out for just 64 in their first innings, managed only 95 in their second attempt. Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored with 31, while Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten on 29. Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon supported Starc with three wickets apiece.
Australia had resumed Sunday on 165-8 and eventually reached 210, securing a 146-run first-innings lead. Cameron Green top-scored with 67, while Shoriful Islam claimed 7-48, the best figures by a Bangladesh bowler in an away Test.
Starc struck twice in consecutive deliveries early in Bangladesh’s second innings, removing Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque. He later dismissed Litton Das and Taijul Islam to complete his 10-wicket haul before Lyon cleaned up the tail.
The victory begins a demanding 12-month schedule for Australia, featuring 20 Tests, including tours of South Africa, India and England.
