Graeme Cremer returns for Zimbabwe’s T20I tri-series but Richard Ngarava sidelined because of injury

by @Editor
Fast bowler Richard Ngarava, who is Zimbabwe’s Test and ODI captain, misses out on selection as he continues his recovery from a lower-back injury. Fast bowler Tanaka Chivanga has been ruled out too, having undergone surgery because of an Achilles tendon injury.
Batter Brendan Taylor has been left out of the side after not getting any game-time in their T20I series against Bangladesh and India this year. He last played a T20I against Oman in the World Cup. He continues to feature in the Test side, and played in their most recent game, a one-off Test against Bangladesh in June.

Cremer, 39, had not played for Zimbabwe in seven years when he made his comeback to play in the T20 World Cup, before a left-arm injury sidelined him from selection after the tournament.

Zimbabwe will also be monitoring Ngarava’s recovery. If fit, he is expected to lead Zimbabwe for their ODI series against Australia in September.

For now, they take on Namibia and South Africa in a double round-robin format, which commences on August 28 and will take place in Windhoek. The top two sides advance to the final on September 6.

Cricinfo understands that after the ODI series against Australia, Zimbabwe are also expected to play two Tests and three ODIs against Afghanistan in the UAE in November.

Zimbabwe’s squad for T20I series
