Ocean Grove’s reputation as the bowls capital of the region is set to continue with five days of elite competition heading to the club from 9 to 13 November.
The 12-team Bowls Premier League (BPL) is expected to draw more than 6000 spectators to Ocean Grove Bowling Club (OGBC) and is described as the bowls equivalent to cricket’s T20 format.
Local team the Geelong Jets are the reigning champions and will be coached by OGBC’s Matt Flapper, who said the excitement and anticipation surrounding the BPL was continuing to build.
Heading into a home BPL as defending champions,
“Heading into a home BPL as defending champions, with the same team that claimed the title in Moama earlier this year, makes this event incredibly special,” he said.
“We have a world-class team that has been together since our journey began in 2024. That continuity, connection and belief in one another has been a huge part of our success.
“One of the most exciting aspects of bringing the BPL to Ocean Grove is the opportunity for our supporters to be part of the action. We’ve built a fantastic following, and now our fans have the chance to embrace the pink and black and experience the atmosphere of a home BPL.”
The tournament will be broadcast by Fox Sports, Kayo and Sky Sport NZ.

The competition features teams from Geelong, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Tweed Heads, Moama, Melbourne, Sydney, Moreton Bay, Perth and Tasmania.
OGBC chief executive Nathan O’Neill said the benefits would extend well beyond the venue.
“We’re preparing for visitation to be at its peak across the five days, with people travelling from around the country to experience the BPL and everything our region has to offer,” he said.
The Bellarine and Greater Geelong stand to benefit
“The Bellarine and Greater Geelong stand to benefit from the influx, with visitors staying locally, dining out and exploring the region.
“An event of this scale in early November helps bring forward the summer momentum, extending the visitor season and generating additional trade for local businesses ahead of the traditional holiday peak.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our club and our region to a national audience.”
