Veteran all-rounder Shuvagata Hom became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score 7,000 runs and take 300 wickets in first-class cricket as Mymensingh Division recovered from a collapse against Dhaka Division on the second day of the third round of the National Cricket League (NCL) 2026-27 on Monday.
The 39-year-old, who made his first-class debut in 2010 and went to represent the national team in 17 fixtures — eights Tests, four ODIs and five T20Is between 2011 and 2016 — reached the milestone when he moved to 70 and went on to score 71 off 126 balls, sharing a 128-run stand with skipper Rakibul Hasan, who made 61 off 96 deliveries, to help Mymensingh post 387 in their first innings in Cox’s Bazar.
Resuming on 226 for four, Mymensingh lost both overnight batters, Rizan Hossain (44) and Mahfizul Islam Robin (116), as well as Abu Hider Rony (four) within the first four overs, slipping to 232 for seven before Shuvagata and Rakibul steadied the innings.
Dhaka reached 120 for three at stumps in reply, with Mohammad Naim unbeaten on 64 off 92 balls, trailing by 267 runs. Aminul Islam Biplob claimed four wickets for 78 runs, while pacer Sumon Khan took three for 54.

Nayeem later shared an unbroken 104-run stand with Meherob for the sixth wicket to strengthen Rajshahi’s position.
